Back to School Tip

Hello all! It's time again for Tip Tuesday here at the BC. I posted a little early for Manic Monday Freebies. Thank you to Down the Hall in Third and Teaching Third Grade for linking up to share classroom set up ideas from last week. It's still not to late to link up if you have set up ideas to share.

  Keeping with the Back to School theme, I'm sharing something I do the first week of school. My blog premise is about keeping my classroom environment balanced  in order to reach all learners. So, I'm sharing a How I Learn Survey  I give the children. It helps me when planning and setting up learning teams. I regive the survey about half way through the year also. Tip Tuesday-Keep it Simple

 It's time for Tip Tuesday at the Balanced Classroom. The linky part of  last Tip Tuesday didn't go so well.....LOL, but I'm trying again.

  My philosophy this year is going to be "keep it simple". I'm going to make a conscious effort to look where I can trim to reserve my time for intervention and instruction planning. Last week I shared my solution to keeping track of  helpers each week.

 This week I'm sharing a back to school tip. Most of us greet our children with some type of Welcome Bag. I trimmed my welcome bag last year to a few items and shortened the greeting to keep it simple, but cute.

 I purchased little white bags from Pat Catan.

 

 I put it  Smarties, Hugs,  Starbursts, Pencil, and Eraser. I stapled the Welcome Paper to the outside. I made the Welcome Paper colorful, but kept the wording simple. You can click below to download a copy. Link up a Back to School Tip below.

Friday Flashback:Penguin Life Cycle & Veteran's Day

  I am linking up with  Teaching Madness for the Flashback Friday Linky party. (I know it's Sunday) 

  Flashing back over last week, we finished up our Veteran's Day thank you letters and cards. Our school has a Veteran's Day assembly and parade tomorrow in which will we give the Veterans the Thank You's. It never fails, each year I tear up as the Veterans march up the hallways with the Patriotic Music in the background.

                                     

                                        

    

We also finished up our Penguin Life Cycle projects. This is part of an integrated reading & science unit I created based on the story Penguin Chick in the Reading Street series.  The unit is available at my TPT store. I have a freebie also for download from a previous post. Here it is again.
